CATIC® is pleased to announce that Attorney Joel Mandell, Special Counsel, Commercial Services, has been named a New England "Super Lawyer" in the November 2008 Edition of New England Super Lawyers Magazine. Attorney Mandell also received this honor in 2007. New England Super Lawyers is an annual listing of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of professional achievement and recognition by their peers. The selection process includes peer nominations, the review of the credentials of nominees and other independent research, and the input of a blue ribbon review panel of leading attorneys from each practice area. Super Lawyers is distributed as a special supplement in leading newspapers and magazines across the country. Attorney Mandell has also been named a Connecticut Super Lawyer in the February 2008 edition of Connecticut Magazine.
Before joining CATIC in 2005, Attorney Mandell was a principal in the Farmington law firm of Levy & Droney, P.C., where he concentrated his law practice in the representation of developers, lending institutions and title insurance companies in the financing, acquisition and development of commercial real estate properties. In 1990, at the request of the State of Connecticut's Insurance Commissioner, Attorney Mandell served on the Task Force that drafted the Connecticut Title Insurance Act. He has also served as a member of the House of Delegates of the Connecticut Bar Association. He currently is a director and First Vice President of the New England Land Title Association. Attorney Mandell is a past chairman of the Executive Committee of the Real Property Section of the Connecticut Bar Association and was elected to Emeritus status in 2000. He is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, the Hartford County Bar Association, the Real Estate Exchange, and the Real Estate Finance Association.
Attorney Mandell received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law. A resident of Simsbury, he served for 14 years as a member of the Simsbury Board of Selectmen and 8 years as the town's Deputy First Selectman. Attorney Mandell was elected to the position of Simsbury Town Meeting Moderator in November, 2007.
